At the Widzew Łódź stadium, a few hours before the match of the Polish Ekstraklasa with Raków Częstochowa (on Sunday 2 October), a promotional tent with the Zgierz logo appeared. We took advantage of the invitation of the authorities of the RTS Widzew football club to introduce ourselves to the club’s fans as a modern local government, promoting the offer of spending free time in the city and projects implemented under the Local Development program. It is worth noting that a large fan club of Widzew fans is active in Zgierz.
Fans, including visitors from numerous towns all over Poland, were eager to talk to us by providing answers in a specially prepared survey. During the two hours of our presence in front of the stadium, over a hundred respondents spoke to us! The questions concerned the knowledge of Zgierz, from general associations to detailed points on the city map. The answers were surprising, for some people associated Zgierz with a large diaspora of the pre-war Jewish population.
The answers collected in the survey will serve as a useful set of tips – how to better promote Zgierz, both among the inhabitants of the city, as well as outside, to increase the awareness of visitors.
The collection of answers in the Zgierz survey was accompanied by the promotion (leaflets, folders, graphic materials) of the cultural offer of Stary Młyn, i.e. the new seat of the Municipal Cultural Center.
The promotional campaign at the Widzew Łódź stadium was carried out as part of the Local Development program, co-financed by the funds obtained by the Municipality of the City of Zgierz from the Norwegian Funds in the competition organized by the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy.
