The recruitment to the newly formed team of accessibility leaders ends (September 30). Anyone who would like to help people with motor disabilities to communicate with municipal institutions could submit their candidacy by sending a special form to the Zgierz City Hall. Now begins the stage of creating the team, and the selection of candidates will be determined by a public draw.
What will the team of accessibility leaders be? In simple terms, the idea is to help people with motor disabilities to establish contacts with officials and to improve the accessibility of the offer of municipal institutions. More specifically, it is assumed, inter alia, to create a network of local cooperation in the field of accessibility, to strengthen the social capital in the city, to professionalize the activities of employees of municipal institutions and to improve the quality of their work, to improve the situation of people with disabilities by increasing the accessibility of the offer of municipal institutions and better communication with people with disabilities.
The task of the team will be to participate in the development of an accessibility strategy for the city of Zgierz, participate in training, and implement recommendations from the audits carried out. The team is therefore to act as an intermediary in the access of people with physical disabilities to the City’s offer, making it easier for them to use it as much as possible.
The admission phase is over, and the qualifying period begins on October 1. An interesting fact is that the admission to the team of accessibility leaders will be decided by a public draw: its date will be given in a separate announcement.
Team members may be residents of the Zgierz City Commune who have turned 18 years of age at the latest on the last day of receiving applications. People who want to represent residents cannot be employees of the Zgierz City Hall and the institutions already represented in the team.
A team of leaders and accessibility leaders for the institution of the City of Zgierz Commune will be appointed as part of the project entitled “Zgierz – a modern city after hours”, co-financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014 – implemented as part of the Local Development Project.
