Microgrants awarded!

Seven socially beneficial initiatives received funding from microgrants awarded by the Zgierz City Hall. Social activists associated with non-governmental organizations will implement ideas for a total amount of over PLN 65,000. The winners signed contracts with the City on Friday (1/03/24).

Applications for microgrants could be submitted by anyone who wanted positive changes in their immediate environment. Important ideas were submitted, e.g. for protecting the natural environment or organizing free time for people who need it, e.g. in the form of sports activities. The condition for applying was to have legal personality – therefore, applications were submitted by non-governmental organizations or so-called informal groups, consisting of at least three people integrating around a useful task or initiative. Such a group had to apply to a public benefit organization (association or foundation) for patronage of its activities.

Who received microgrants?

Financial support in the form of a micro-grant (grants up to PLN 10,000) was awarded to the following applicants:

  • Municipal Football Club “Boruta” Zgierz, for organizing a football tournament for children in the newly built pneumatic arena, the amount of PLN 9,500;
  • Zgierz Academy of Figure Skating “Olimpijczyk”, for organizing workshops, ballet and choreography classes for children in the field of figure skating, the amount of PLN 9,800;
  • Gymnastic Society “Sokół” Zgierz (initiative of an informal group), for organizing exercise classes for preschool children, amount PLN 9,986;
  • Gymnastic Society “Sokół” Zgierz, for organizing floorball and table tennis classes under the slogan “Zgierz equal for all”, amount PLN 10,000;
  • “W Drodze na Szczyt” Foundation, for organizing theoretical and practical workshops “Safe Mountains” for hiking enthusiasts, the amount of PLN 9,980;
  • “Creative, Active” Foundation (initiative of an informal group), for the implementation of a task under the slogan “Kolektyw Folk”, i.e. the production of a music video for the song “Jesień – Tańcuj” from the film “Chłopi”, the amount of PLN 10,000;
  • Polish Association for People with Intellectual Disabilities PSONI Circle in Zgierz, for organizing a task under the slogan “Equal – Different”, i.e. raising awareness of the problems of disabled people among the youngest, the amount of PLN 6,000.

Microgrants worth a total of approximately PLN 65,000 were awarded. zlotys. The amount to be distributed was up to one hundred thousand zlotys. Seven out of nine submitted applications met the verification criteria set out in the regulations. – Two of these applications were submitted by the so-called informal groups, benefiting from the legal personality of patron organizations – explains Renata Malinowska-Koralewska, Head of the Department of Health, Social Affairs and Senior Policy of the UMZ – This applies to applications submitted through the “Sokół” Gymnastic Society and the “Twórczy” Foundation “Active”.

How to use the grant correctly?

Each entity receiving support in the form of a microgrant is obliged to carry out the activity submitted for financing by April 16, 2024 – this is the period of expenditure eligibility. The obligations of the bidder, including the rules for settling the activity and reporting rules, are set out in the regulations:

The micro-grants were awarded as part of the “Zgierz – modern city after hours” project, financed by the NMF and the EEA FM, as part of the “Local Development” program.
