Thanks to financial support from the “Local Development” Program, it was possible to make a number of construction and architectural investments in Zgierz. These include the creation of a Shared Services Center at ul. Popiełuszki 3. In place of the former, not very spacious headquarters of several departments and units of the Zgierz City Hall (including health and education departments), a modern center was built, combining various functions.
In accordance with the investment task, multi-level modernization of the building at ul. Popiełuszki was intended to create a universal place where administrative, financial, human resources and organizational services for local government units would be consolidated. The renovation of the building was divided into several stages.
In the first phase of modernization, renovation and construction works are planned to adapt the CUW headquarters to energy efficiency standards. Thermal modernization was preceded by an appropriate audit. The second part of the works involves the specific adaptation of subsequent office rooms to the needs of the Shared Services Center, while the third (and last) involves the construction of an elevator, especially dedicated to people with special needs.
The creation of the Shared Services Center was possible thanks to the combination of two sources of financing: from the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Łódź and the project “Zgierz – a modern city after hours” co-financed by the Norwegian EEA Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 and the EEA Financial Mechanism 2021-2024 under the “Local Development” Program.
Completion of the project is scheduled for the end of April 2024. The total value of the investment is: PLN 3,875,000 gross. This amount includes PLN 345,575 of support from the priority program of the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Łódź: “Rationalization of energy consumption in public buildings and municipal resources in order to reduce emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere – 5th edition.”
